Senior Database Administrator – DBA

Role Description

Reporting to the VP of IT Operations, this position will be responsible for all database administration and database support within ServiceSource. The individual will provide SQL Server database administration (DBA) support and technical support for multiple applications in development, integration test, user acceptance test, quality assurance, performance & capacity testing, and production environments. This role will be dedicated to the support of all database tasks within ServiceSource's enterprise environment. This role will also interact frequently with resources located in varying time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day 24x7 management of all Development, Test, Stage, and Production SQL Server databases in a growing and dynamic environment
  • Perform database administration activities including monitoring and schema management, database configuration, space management, performance tuning, optimization, maintenance, backup/recovery
  • Define and develop database standards, policies, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Aid in the Architecture/Data Modeling, Business Analysis and Extraction / Transformation / Load (ETL) development (Data Integrator, Microsoft SSIS)
  • Provide database support in all phases of SDLC
  • Development of DB administration jobs for supported applications, test in Dev/Test/Stage/Production systems
  • Coordinate, schedule and implement database related patches; both software and security.
  • Support distributed applications for users in multiple locations
  • Identify and develop tools to assist in Production Support’s and Operations ability to troubleshoot DB and application related issues.
  • Support Development teams (internal and 3rd party software vendors) by reviewing their data model designs for adherence to design practices and standards.
  • Assess proposed new databases for consistency, compliance and integration with data architecture standards and policies.
  • Ability to manage external vendor resources to meet project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math/Science/Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of total IT experience
  • 5+ years in production database administration (Microsoft SQ Server 2000, 2005) in a global 24x7 environment.
  • 3+ years database development experience (Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005)
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM a plus
  • Expertise in worldwide global deployment, support, replication, clustering, high availability, 24/7, SQL and HDS SAN environments a plus
  • Broad knowledge in various backup and recovery methodology's (NetBackup a plus)
  • Strong skills / understanding of database performance, monitoring and recovery procedures
  • 1-3 years of ETL development experience (Microsoft DTS/SSIS, Data Integrator)
  • 1-3 years of ASP/.Net experience
  • 1-3 years of multi-lingual/multi-currency system support
  • 2+ years of system development experience (preferably Dell, HP, Microsoft, VMware, Network Appliance)
  • Must possess strong inter-personal relations and excellent verbal/written communication skills
