ServiceSource Employees Make a Big Difference in Local Communities

Volunteer, employee led effort grants multiple wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and local Dublin, Ireland charities

29 September 2008, San Francisco, CA — ServiceSource, a San Francisco, CA based Service Performance Management leader for the high-tech industry announced today that its employee led charity event initiative has raised nearly $85,000 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and several charities in the Dublin, Ireland area including the Irish Heart Foundation and Dogs in Distress.

“The spirit of our employees reflects the optimistic and generous attitude of the communities where we live and work,” said Mike Smerklo, president and CEO of ServiceSource. “The most impressive thing to me is that this effort is completely employee led and organized by staff at the local level in each of our Service Centers,” said Smerklo.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, employees at the company’s headquarters hosted their third annual charity drive at Broadway Studios which featured a concert by “Pop Rocks,” a live and silent auction which included Smerklo trading jobs with an employee for a day. “I just completed my day as a team leader for one of our Inside Sales organizations,” said Smerklo, “and it’s clear that they display the same passion they have for their work in their community involvement.”

The Denver and Nashville Service Centers hosted similar events, raising over $17,000 and $9,000 respectively. “The Nashville effort is particularly notable,” said Laurie Priddy, vice president and general manager, “they have only been in existence since January 2008 and already the employees have stepped up and made a significant impact within the local community.” In addition, she said “This is the second year in a row that I’ve seen the Denver operation take on the challenge of beating the previous year’s goal and achieve spectacular results. I’m really proud of them.”

The employees in the Dublin Service Center focused on local charities selected by the employees themselves. Linda Pearson, Vice President and General Manager stated, “The employees here are incredible. They come from all over the world, but come together around a common goal – helping the community they live in, in a very tangible way.” The Dublin operation contributed over $12,000 to the effort.

What started as a grass roots effort in the company will remain a completely employee driven initiative. While the company overall supports and promotes the campaign and specific events, the management team has always followed the will and direction of the employees and encourages everyone to participate. “It’s a credit to the employees of ServiceSource that they have made this their passion, and we owe it to them to support their efforts in any way we can”, said Smerklo.

“We are fortunate to have the support of such a dedicated group of people,” said Patricia Wilson, Executive Director of the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation. “ServiceSource is a huge supporter of Make-A-Wish, and we are excited to work with them and welcome Mike Smerklo as a member of our Board of Directors.”
